Official Rules
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.
1. ELIGIBILITY: Entrants must be a female, 18 years of age or older as of June 23, 2007, a legal resident of the United States (excluding US Territories) and officially enrolled and matriculating at a four-year accredited undergraduate college or university program at a U.S. college or university as of September 1, 2007. In addition, entrants' most recent GPA (high school or college) must be at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent in the case of another averaging system. Applicants must remain enrolled in the same accredited four-year college or university for at least one year after accepting scholarship funds to be eligible for the full award. Winners who will complete their undergraduate degrees in less than one year will be awarded a pro-rated amount based on the amount of time remaining between award of the scholarship and their graduation. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. This competition is void in all countries except the United States. Employees of Coty US LLC and its respective affiliated companies, agents, retailers, distributors, suppliers, advertising and promotion agencies and their immediate families are not eligible to win. Coty US LLC and its respective affiliated companies, agents, retailers, distributors, suppliers, advertising and promotion agencies are not responsible for supplying applications or scholarship information other than by maintaining the entry form and rules at www.takemeaway.com. Applications will not be mailed, faxed or otherwise directly delivered to interested applicants.
2. INITIAL SUBMISSION AND JUDGING: To enter the competition, complete the official entry form, which is displayed on the competition entry form page on the CALGON website. You will be asked to provide your name, address and e-mail address. Only online submissions will be accepted. Responses to questions should not be more than 900 characters per question. All entries must be received as described above to qualify for consideration. The competition begins at 12:01 p.m. EST on April 18, 2006 and all entries must be received no later than 11:59 a.m. EST, February 28, 2007. Limit one entry per person. All subsequent entries will be disqualified. 35 finalists will be chosen, from all eligible entries received by the judges, on or about March 15, 2007 based on the responses to "short-answer" questions. Initial submissions will be judged on originality and quality of expression as well as accordance with standard rules of English grammar, mechanics and spelling. Financial need will not be considered as a distinguishing factor in choosing finalists or winners. All decisions of the judges are final. A competition entry is null and void and will be rejected if any part is incorrect, inaccurate or if it contains mechanical, technical, electronic or other errors whether caused by Internet users or by any of the programming associated with the competition. Coty US LLC will not be responsible for any computer, on-line, telephone, technical or human malfunctions. Coty US LLC is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, incomplete, illegible or postage due entries. Sponsor is not responsible for technical, hardware or software failures of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, incomplete, or garbled or delayed computer transmissions. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend this competition should viruses, bugs or other causes beyond the control of the sponsor corrupt the administration, security or proper play of the competition.
3. FINAL SUBMISSION AND JUDGING: The 35 finalists will be contacted on or about March 22, 2007 by Scholarship America and invited to complete a short essay on a specified topic and according to specific guidelines mailed to them in a Finalist packet. Finalists may also be required to provide school transcripts, a listing of extra curricular activities and other documents as part of an application packet to be provided. Finalists will be required to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release. Finalists will have approximately 4 weeks to complete and submit their essays. All essays, affidavits and releases must be received no later than May 3, 2007. Scholarship America will independently rank all finalists by merit exclusive of the their essays. In consideration of that ranking and the quality of finalists' essays, Maddenmedia will determine all winners. The winning applicants will be profiled online with a copy of their winning essays during the months of July 2007/August 2007.
4. PRIZES:
One -- First Prize of $5,000. (approximate value $5,000)
One -- Second Prize of $2,000 (approximate value $2,000)
One -- Third Prize of $1,000 (approximate value $1,000)
5. AWARD OF PRIZES: Winners will be determined on or around July 5, 2007. Winners will be notified with the contact info provided in their finalist application packets. Winners will be required to sign and return any applicable forms required by tax authorities and Coty US LLC within 21 days of notification or the prize will be forfeited and awarded to alternate winners. If the prize notification letter is returned as undeliverable, the prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner chosen as above. In addition, winners will be required to verify enrollment and other information as directed.
Each scholarship check will be sent directly to each winner and made payable jointly to the winner and his/her selected college or university. Both parties must endorse checks for use.
Winners must sign an agreement that the money will only be used for tuition and fees, books and supplies, and room & board (only if living on campus) and if the winner terminates her/his enrollment or drops below full-time for any reason, the balance of the scholarship will be collected.
Any balance will not be transferred to another school and winner forfeits right to balance.
In addition, winners will be required to verify enrollment and other information as directed.
6. LIABILITY: In all situations, winners are responsible for following up on all matters relating to his or her scholarship
7. CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION: All entries become the property of Coty US LLC and will not be acknowledged or returned. Coty US LLC reserves non-exclusive publication rights to the winning entry for potential marketing use. The prize may not be transferred or assigned. No substitutions or cash redemptions will be made. All applicable federal, state and local taxes on the prize are the winner's sole responsibility. Participants waive the right to assert as a cost of winning any prize any and all costs of verification and redemption of said prize and any liability which might arise from redeeming or seeking to redeem said prize. The prize will be awarded only if participants comply with all of these rules.
By participating, winners agree to allow Coty US LLC to post their name and entries/essays online as competition winners without further compensation. Names may be posted without acknowledgement of notification from finalists or winners.
By participating and redeeming the prize, the winners release Coty US LLC, its affiliates and respective directors, officers, employees and agents, including advertising and promotion agencies, from any and all liability with respect to the prize. Except where prohibited, by accepting the prize the winner agrees to the use of his/her name, address and/or photograph, videotape or any likeness and biographical information for advertising or publicity purposes and to the use of statements made by or attributed to the prize winner relating to Coty US LLC and any and all rights to said use without further compensation. Only the prizes described in these Official Rules will be awarded.
By participating in the competition, you agree to abide by and be bound by these Official Rules, and it is your responsibility to ensure that you have so complied. The determination of the winners will be final and binding in all matters relating to this competition.
